Filled with a love story, comedy and magic, Coppélia is the perfect introduction to the beauty of classical ballet for children as well as adults. Set in an early nineteenth-century Bavarian village, Coppélia follows the lighthearted romance between young lovers Swanilda and Franz as they enter the world of the eccentric Dr. Coppélius and his mysterious, enchantingly lifelike doll, Coppélia. Attracted to this shy beauty reading in the toymaker’s window, Franz sneaks into Dr. Coppélius’s fantastic shop unknowingly following the jealous Swanilda and her curious friends. They soon discover that Coppélia is but a lifeless doll, and Swanilda decides to play a trick on the doll's proud creator, causing confusion and mayhem as Dr. Coppélius seeks revenge.

Pamela Hayes' production of this beloved classic ballet sparkles with breathtaking costumes, stunning designs, classical choreography, and spirited folkloric dances making it the perfect outing for the entire family. Guest artist Michael Onstad, a former principal dancer with Ballet West, reprises the role he has been performing for over 30 years as the eccentric Dr. Coppelius; and Julia Feldman a former Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet graduate and current apprentice with the Sacramento Ballet returns to perform the mischievous role of Swanilda.
